Sensitivity and Tolerance Analysis in Analog Circuits using Symbolic Methods

چکیده
230 Abstract — The paper is focused on a new and practical approach to perform sensitivity and tolerance analysis of analog lumped circuits. Any linear circuit can contain passive elements, magnetically coupled inductors, excess elements, and any type of independent and controlled sources. Special strategies based on symbolic methods are used in order to reduce the computational effort and to minimize the numerical errors in the automatic design of these circuits. As part of this process, a new, modern, reliable and easy-to-use software tool for sensitivity and tolerance analysis has been developed, as a useful and valuable support for research and design engineers.

On the Sensitivity Analysis of Analog Circuits
The paper presents three procedures for the sensitivity analysis using auxiliary circuits: the Bykhovsky Perkins Cruz’s method, the incrementalcircuit approach and the adjoint-circuit approach. All methods, based on the auxiliary circuits, have needed an efficient partially-symbolic method for the circuit analysis. For this, it was elaborated a very good procedure for the partially-symbolic ana...
متن کاملMOCA ARM: Analog Reliability Measurement based on Monte Carlo Analysis
Due to the expected increase of defects in circuits based on deep submicron technologies, reliability has become an important design criterion. Although different approaches have been developed to estimate reliability in digital circuits and some measuring concepts have been separately presented to reveal the quality of analog circuit reliability in the literature, there is a gap to estimate re...
متن کاملModeling and Simulation of Substrate Noise in Mixed-Signal Circuits Applied to a Special VCO
The mixed-signal circuits with both analog and digital blocks on a single chip have wide applications in communication and RF circuits. Integrating these two blocks can cause serious problems especially in applications requiring fast digital circuits and high performance analog blocks. Fast switching in digital blocks generates a noise which can be introduced to analog circuits by the common su...
متن کاملHierarchical Symbolic Analysis of Large Analog Circuits with Determinant Decision Diagrams
A novel hierarchical approach is proposed to symbolic analysis of large analog circuits. The key idea is to use a graph-based representation—called Determinant Decision Diagram (DDD)— to represent the symbolic determinant and cofactors associated with the MNA matrix for each subcircuit block. By exploiting the inherent sharing and sparsity of symbolic expressions, DDD is capable of representing...
